Summer of Loud Brings Its First Run To Michigan
Summer Of Loud rolled through Clarkston, MI and made the summer a whole lot hotter (and heavier). As it is a new touring festival hitting amphitheaters across the US, we are stoked to have attended it for its first year running.
The event is held in memory of Dave Shapiro, Emma Huke & Kendall Fortner that had all the help planning this before their tragic passing.
Sharing one stage with quick change overs, we had 8 bands bless us with heavy riffs and a wild time. This year the first opener was rotated by date, previously including TX2 and Kingdom Of Giants, while Michigan had Dark Divine!
Excluding the rotated openers, the headlining performer also rotated each night through the lineup of seven major bands. These bands include I Prevail, Parkway Drive, The Amity Affliction, Alpha Wolf, The Devil Wears Prada, Beartooth & Killswitch Engage, which is a hell of a line up for a first year run!
All the bands absolutely crushed it with their crowd interaction and production. The show included lots of pyrotechnics, especially towards the end of the night, and even a little bit of a thunderstorm couldn’t keep them away.
The crowd went wild for everyone and definitely had an incredible time. I watched a mosh pit form as far up as the lawn which was insane to see.
Summer Of Loud was such a success in my book, and I look forward to seeing what it does in the future for the scene!
